Effects of Climate Change: Photo Essay by Sanya Gupta

By Sanya Gupta

In the face of relentless climate change, a striking image emerges. This photograph powerfully conveys the distress our planet is experiencing, painting the sky a fiery red, as though nature itself is using a brush. As wisps of smoke twist through the air, it weaves its charged anger, born from our causes. The photograph conveys not only anger but also the consequences of our actions. It serves as a clear reminder of our immediate requirement for change, a silent entreaty from a planet stretched to its limits.
The forest’s devastation, once lush and green, stands as a ghostly wasteland. The dead branches, leaves, and trees all convey a once vibrant life extinguished. Only a few trees remain, stretching their final and last skeletal arms, embracing their final moments of life. The desecrated land serves as an important reminder of our consequences. The empty and vast air emphasizes the high impact of climate change. It’s saddening how nature’s beauty is lost because of how the world is changing. The world should start focusing on our environment by placing an important emphasis on spreading awareness about deforestation.
Adding onto the effects of climate change, yellow gas factories rise as industrial giants. Massive factories are large, towering structures emitting streams of toxic gasses. The gasses bring an eerie and sickly hue, disturbing the air quality. This yellowish haze clings to everything around us, canceling out the green plants and bright blue skies. Its grim scene, where all vibrant colors of nature are replaced, conveys an unsettling toll of progress in our world.
The earth’s surface breaks into desolation. Deep cracks are created, forming a dry network, opening across once, vibrant, green, and healthy plants. Nature’s thirst is evident in the rock-solid earth, bearing the harsh imprints of the relentless sun. This unforgiving scene seems to ripple with the heat waves, distorting the surroundings like a harsh image. The brown, dirty, landscape portrays a land deprived of life’s essential moisture. The brown cracks yearn for rain or water.
This disheartening scene unfolds as more and more plastic washing up from bodies of water, or heavy rainfall. What was once a green, moist, and lively land, is now exposed to a mix of synthetic debris. Abandoned bottles, rags, and colorful plastic fragments lie scattered in a strange form of litter, serving as a reminder of humanity’s environmental impact. Every time the tide washes up more plastic, it conveys how people are hurting nature and leaving more of a mess.
